Youth in construction
Year 10 construction pupils from Medway University Technical College (UTC) visited Ebbsfleet Green – where Redrow is delivering up to 900 new homes as part of the Ebbsfleet Garden City project – to find out about life on a construction site.
On 9 March, students of the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment were first taken through health and safety induction from the area construction manager, Mike Tynan, followed by a tour of the site to learn about the construction methods used on the development.
Chris Lilley, managing director at Redrow South East, said: "It's really important that students embarking on a career in construction have the opportunity to visit active sites and speak to people within the profession.
"Hosting the pupils from Medway UTC at Ebbsfleet Green has highlighted the enthusiasm there is from the next generation of construction industry professionals."
