Medical facility planned

Final touches are being applied to a masterplanning exercise for a medical research facility, as part of ongoing development in Ebbsfleet Garden City.

It is planned that the facility will provide training for doctors and dentists and will include a care home. Accommodation will also be provided for pupils; the aim is for about 100 medical students a year to join.

A group of professionals leading on the project is in discussions with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) and Dartford Hospital about financial involvement with the scheme.

Plans for a school for entrepreneurs have also been mooted. The former executive chairman of Capita, Rod Aldridge, is bringing forward a proposal to the EDC for an academy. The aim is for it to be open to 11 to 19 year olds and have capacity for about 900 students.
